What Clients Say

Coming and talking even once - taking action and making our relationship a priority - has lifted a weight. It’s more harmonious, peaceful, and constructive right now.

Couple | 20s

When we were first here in therapy a few years ago the sessions really helped a lot. We spoke to each other better. We created space for each other, carved out time to talk. It lasted a long time. We’re back because our child is at a different stage and we need some help.

Couple | 40s

Our session yesterday was transformative.  Thank you. I’m taking that big step today.  Feels right.

Individual | 50s

Book your Free 15 Minute Phone Consultation

We’ll spend about 15 minutes on the phone together to get a good sense if we’re a good fit to work together. I’ll ask about what you want to come in and work on, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask me any of your questions. If we’re a good fit, we can schedule your first in-person session when you’re ready.

Frequency of Sessions

Questions You May Have

To start out, weekly, or occasionally even twice per week, is best. You want to learn and build on skills, and explore and understand issues, without losing the thread of what you're working on. After a while clients sometimes space sessions every other week, and eventually even every three to four weeks or more.

Length of Sessions

Questions You May Have

Therapy sessions are based on a 50-minute “hour.”

Individual therapy is usually one 50-minute session, but can be a session and a half (75 minutes) or longer.

Couples therapy is almost always in double sessions (100 minutes, or, an hour and forty mintues). Once therapy has progressed and you're really seeing the changes in your relationship you are working towards, sessions can be decreased to single sessions, or a session and a half (75 minutes). For the initial three assessment sessions and first several couples therapy sessions, I work in double sessions only.

Payment & Using Insurance

Questions You May Have

Payment is due in full at the start of each session, in cash or a check.

I no longer bill any insurance plans, and am no longer a provider on any panels or plans that I am aware of. If you wish to attempt to use your insurance, I can provide you a statement periodically that you can to submit to your insurance company to request reimbursement for your therapy sessions.

If you wish to see if your insurance company will reimburse you for your therapy I recommend you call and ask if you have an “out of network” benefit, or ask if they pay for “Any Licensed Psychologist.”

These insurance codes will be helpful for inquiring about reimbursement for couples therapy:

CPT Code: 90847
Diagnosis Code: Z63.0
Units per day: 2
If your insurance company says that they will reimburse you, I encourage you to request this in writing.

Questions You May Have

To explore working with me in therapy, the next step is talking by phone for about ten minutes or so. This will give us a chance to see if we're a good fit for each other.

Leave me a voice-mail message, send an email, or use the contact form below. Please include your phone number and sometimes I can reach you at that number, and I will call you back at a time when we are both available. When my practice is full it may take me several days to get back to you.
