Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays
10:00 am - 5:00 pm
I end sessions by 5:00, which means the latest I start an individual session is 4:00, and the latest I start couples sessions is approximately 3:00.
Frequency of Sessions
To start out, weekly, or occasionally even twice per week, is best. You want to learn and build on skills, and explore and understand issues, without losing the thread of what you're working on. After a while clients sometimes space sessions every other week, and eventually even every three to four weeks or more.
Length of Sessions
Therapy sessions are based on a 50-minute “hour.”
Individual therapy is usually one 50-minute session, but can be a session and a half (75 minutes) or longer.
Couples therapy is almost always in double sessions (100 minutes, or, an hour and forty minutes), or longer.. Once therapy has progressed and you're really seeing the changes in your relationship you are working towards, sessions can sometimes be decreased to a session and a half (75 minutes), but usually the double session format is maintained. For the initial three assessment sessions and first several couples therapy sessions, I work in double sessions or longer only.
Payment & Using Insurance
Payment is due in full at the start of each session, in cash or a check.
I no longer bill any insurance plans, and am no longer a provider on any panels or plans that I am aware of. If you wish to attempt to use your insurance, I can provide you a statement periodically that you can to submit to your insurance company to request reimbursement for your therapy sessions.
If you wish to see if your insurance company will reimburse you for your therapy I recommend you call and ask if you have an “out of network” benefit, or ask if they pay for “Any Licensed Psychologist.”
These insurance codes will be helpful for inquiring about reimbursement for couples therapy:
CPT Code: 90847
Diagnosis Code: Z63.0
Units per day: 2
If your insurance company says that they will reimburse you, I encourage you to request this in writing.
